The vast majority of this list is genfic, however. Generally fandoms where there are also slash and het recs will have several different pairings there – I look for good plot and writing, not pairings.
These are all stories I consider very, very good. There are a handful of fics I consider truly exceptional, and I’m going to mark them with this sign: #. I just think they’re that good. (Also, anything Silver Pard writes is genius and well worth a look in, ahem.)

31/54 – Detective Jan Suk (Monster)/Princess Garnet (Final Fantasy IX)
Ooh. Suk would like Garnet but be far, far too adorably awkward about it and his fellow detectives would laugh at his idiocy for loving a princess who is way out of his league. Garnet would, of course, still be doing her best to mingle properly with the non royals and put him at ease by being less royal. Aww.
68/32 – Zoe (Doctor Who)/Doctor Tenma (Monster)
Zoe would alarm Tenma by wearing a sparkly catsuit certainly! He’d try and stay away from her as it would attract attention and Tenma’s obviously trying to lay low. But since people keep referencing Tenma as Doctor, Zoe would follow him on a false trail to find the Doctor (who would be off involved in wacky hijinks with Jamie, deciding to make the most of getting lost… and possibly arrested). It would be generally embarrassing but also awesome!
34/51 – Axel (Kingdom Hearts 2)/Vincent Valentine (Final Fantasy VII)
…I just have this internal idea of Axel mooching around, depressed after the prologue of Kingdom Hearts 2 has finished, and him running into Vincent still mooching about his sins. Vincent would probably give him a talk about living for his sins, and Axel would make barbed comments about how Vincent’s doing a pretty terrible job of following that advice himself. Their personalities would probably not be very compatible but they would have a mutual respect that somebody close to them has ‘gone’.
23/4 – Hughes (Fullmetal Alchemist)/Ruby (Supernatural)
...Oh geez. Hughes would spy Ruby and figuring she’d have maternal instincts would promptly shove photos of Elysia at her. Ruby would not be pleased and subtle attempts to dissuade him would fail. …Knowing Ruby, she would probably end up possessing Elysia or getting another demon to do it. Hughes would be very, very creeped out and call the rest of the military in over his daughter’s odd behaviour (he would be perceptive enough to realise it’s something to do with Ruby).
(Obviously it would all end in tears.)
17/47 – L (Death Note)/Cloud Strife (Final Fantasy VII)
L would obviously be investigating the mysterious reactor bombings and would come across reports of somebody falling through the roof of a church underneath one of the reactors. Eventually he would narrow it down to Cloud and would try and infiltrate the operation with Watari. (Watari would then attempt to take out Cid, as he has piloting skillz.)
L would manage to get them caught several times until Cloud confronts him and it doesn’t end well. L would also think Cloud is mentally unstable for his bouts of wavering in his memories.
(Meanwhile sidelined Cid gets a Death Note!)
30/37 – Grimmer (Monster)/Riku (Kingdom Hearts)
These two would be amazing! Grimmer would encourage him, give him talks about memories worth keeping and that he shouldn’t hide who he is behind the whole Darkness thing. Since Grimmer lacks his own identity and lacks the ability to emote he prides that in other people. Riku would initially be suspicious that he is a Nobody but would eventually see through it.
10/6 – Tyki Mikk (D.Gray-Man)/Hitsugaya Toushirou (Bleach)
Don’t see them getting along! Tyki is fun loving; he loves the whole good side, bad side thing. (And bumming around with homeless guys and playing cards… then wearing awesome suits and killing people!) Hitsugaya is young but very serious and would not appreciate Tyki’s enthusiasm for violence.
(On the other hand, Tyki would be Very Impressed at Hitsugaya’s bankai and Hyourinmaru. Histugaya would be less than impressed at the Tease. (“…Butterflies?!”)
59/27 – Ashe (Final Fantasy XII)/Johan Liebert (Monster)
THIS WOULD BE TERRIFYING.
Johan is a master manipulator and he’d prey on Ashe’s desperation for going after the Dawn and Dusk Shard. Knowing him he’d probably also tip off Vayne and then watch the chaos that is wrought. Johan’s philosophy seems to be to give things a push… no need to lift a hand yourself. I do not think Ashe, strong a lady as she is, could best him.
40/11 – Squall Leonheart (Final Fantasy VIII)/Road Kamelot (D.Gray-Man)
…AND THIS WOULD BE NASTY.
Road would decide to take out the lead SeeD for fun. Squall would be dismissive of her as she’s just a little kid (albeit a creepy one). Road would be fascinated to find out about Ellone’s power and what she’d been doing, and since Road’s power is dreams she’d get involved and mess around in Squall’s head and create a world where he is utterly alone, with all his newfound friends relieving him in the hope of tearing apart any progress being made by Rinoa’s kindliness. Road would get involved to watch the fun, playing a version of Rinoa who proclaims all sorts of unkind things that would really get to Squall as Road’s very good at spotting other people’s weak points.
Squall would then use his judgement to realise (after some torturous time) that it’s too out of character to be true and it doesn’t logically make sense, and with mercenary like precision would be able to cut down fake!Rinoa and thus defeat the dreamscape.
He’d be even more stand-offish than usual of being around Rinoa though due to memories of this!

Author's Note: This was not supposed to have DiZ and Riku in it, interesting as I think they are. Then I got to the end and thought: wouldn't this make a lot more sense (to me)...? I also think it helps give the fic a sort of timeline. It also provides some otherwise vague info (well, to be fair, it's still vague!)
I wanted to parallel it a bit with digital Twilight Town, but not to the degree that everything is the same - they do lack Roxas, after all, and stuff that happened revolved around Roxas.

Author's Notes: I suppose you could call this an interpretation of Sam's internal monologue of the days leading up to Jess’ death, until the day she dies. I will only be touching on the events in “Pilot” as you already know what happens; it does not need a descriptor.
Also, this is my first tentative step into Supernatural fandom, so I’m still refining my writing style for it… and working on characterisation.

Title: Memories

Summary: One-shot. Set some time after The Chase. It wasn't that Ian and Barbara had hated travelling with the Doctor – it'd just been that it was potentially the only opportunity to get back, and at the end of the day, there’s no place like home.
Author's Notes: The 60s is my favourite era of Doctor Who, but I'm nervous about writing it for potential lack of authenticity, both in dialogue and description. But, as with writing Turlough, I'm not going to improve until I try - so here's a first attempt.
Several episodes are (hopefully subtly) referenced: An Unearthly Child, The Romans and The Chase, that I can remember offhand.

| Not wrote much lately. Today I've been ill - passed out and threw up three times. I finally got out of bed at 19:13 (according to my computer clock). Bleh. Overloaded with school work and now an extra day behind with my Computing project... way to go, illness. On a sidenote, how come I'm sick every holiday these days and never term time? I lost my voice for two weeks at Christmas...
On a non-depressing note, here is a teaser for some (so far untitled) original fiction I'm writing... criticism is welcome though it's an early draft, and let me know what you think's going on, if you will. I've only showed it to Luna and she got it half right...
He lay in the box. He couldn’t move. He wanted to cry. There was nothing but darkness, but he could feel the hard wood on his back. He could hear people nearby, off-key singing.
'Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound…'
He reached upwards, but almost immediately crashed into more wood. The lid wobbled, but remained closed. Among the singing, there was a muffled gasp he had to strain to hear. He wanted to shout for help, but he was tired and his throat seemed parched and he needed a drink. He blinked in disorientation, wanting to cry but no tears came.
In the box, the silence was deadly. The voices from outside seemed light years away.
He didn’t like it, this claustrophobic box. He clenched a fist, punched upwards in desperation. There was no pain, though he was left with a vague impression of air pushing at his hand, a freezing cold feeling that left him clenching his teeth. | In addition to my results, another post!
I meant to post about this series ages ago, but apparently forgot. The Warchild series of books is really good; so far it's a trilogy, but there might be more books if there's more book sales... each book is written in the point of view of a different character, who is usually mentioned at least once in the previous books. They're sci-fi, and the three books out so far are about child exploitation in war - thus you may find them INAPPROPRIATE. The first book has some allusion to child abuse, the second is relatively free of that, but the third... Cagebird - I'll just say the word 'geisha' is brought up a lot in the third and you should know what I mean when I say some people may find that one inappropriate.
Just a fair warning. I think they're a really interesting study, but not everyone might. I plead you give them a try though... although Cagebird is quite sexually explicit and when being sexually explicit, is generally covering gay sex. So, you're forewarned if that sort of thing squicks you... Personally my favourite story order is: Warchild, Burndive, Cagebird. However, my favourite narrator order is: Jos (Warchild), Yuri (Cagebird), Ryan (Burndive)... but they're all very good.
It's really interesting to look at the differences between the EarthHub, Striviirc-na, Sympathisers, Pirates and the crew of Macedon.

| Title: Sensory Overload
Notes on Piece: This piece is very surreal. I've put it in perspectives again as it is a perspective - it's partly based on an experience of myself as my parents, much as I love them, spend the majority of their time yelling at eachother and/or bitching to others about eachother... namely me and my brother, and that sort of thing does hurt.
Maybe it's just the surreal point of view, but I view this as being in the POV of a 5 year old or so - possibly an autistic five year old, at that. I know next to nothing about rockets, which somehow wormed their way in and took over, and that could be the reason for that. I feel like I was channeling a five year old anyway, and that's the mentality I feel I get when I'm overwhelmed.

I think the body of the first one was found on about the second? So that's five bodies in 10 days. Looks like a potential serial killer.
3 prostitutes dead. 2 unidentified bodies found - assumed to be 2 missing prostitutes. :\ Some went missing quite some time ago, but the bodies are all being found at once, it seems. 5 in 10 days...

Police fear the bodies are those of Paula Clennell and Annette Nicholls
Two more bodies have been found by police investigating the murders of three prostitutes.
A woodland area around the village of Levington, near Ipswich, in Suffolk has been sealed off by officers.
Police said it is likely the two bodies are those of two missing women - Paula Clennell and Annette Nicholls.
The area is close to where the body of Anneli Alderton was found on Sunday. The bodies of Gemma Adams, and Tania Nicol were also found near Ipswich.
Ms Clennell, 24, and 29-year-old Ms Nicholls, have not been heard from since Sunday.
Det Ch Supt Stewart Gull said: "The natural assumption is that these are the two missing women.

"These two bodies have been found not far from where Anneli was found and I fear the worst. They may well be Paula and Annette."
Suffolk police officers were called to Levington shortly after 1500 GMT after a member of the public reported seeing a body.
The force helicopter was scrambled and a member of the crew spotted a second body.
The site of the find is off the main Felixstowe to Ipswich road, close to a railway line, in a rural area close Ipswich.
Mr Gull said: "We've formally linked the murders of Tania and Gemma on Saturday because of significant similarities, and they continue with Anneli, Paula and Annette.
"Clearly they were all prostitutes from Ipswich, they were found naked and in an open rural environment.
"We need to catch this person or persons as quickly as possible."

Annette Nicholls, 29, was reported missing by her family
The body of Anneli Alderton, 24, was found in woodland at Nacton on 10 December. She had been strangled.
Ms Adams' body was found on 2 December at Thorpes Hill, Hintlesham, near Ipswich.
Police divers recovered the body of Ms Nicol, 19, six days later from the same stretch of water at Copdock Mill.
Mr Gull said no further prostitutes had been reported as missing in Ipswich, but he urged prostitutes to stay off the streets.
"We have got three prostitutes murdered, now possibly another two. I do not know what stronger warning there can be to get off the streets as soon as possible," he said.

Mr Litvinenko died in London last month
Interpol joined the investigation into the poisoning of ex-Russian spy Alexander Litvinenko. officials say.
"Co-operation has already begun," Interpol's Russian office chief Timur Lakhonin said in Moscow.
He said Interpol was providing "speedy exchange of information" between police in Britain, Russia and Germany, who had already launched their own inquiries.
Mr Litvinenko, 43, died in a London hospital last month - it is suspected he was poisoned by polonium-210.
Interpol, which has 186 member countries around the globe, facilitates cross-border police co-operation.
Following the polonium trail
It is hoped that its involvement in the Litvinenko case could speed up the exchange of information between detectives in the three countries involved and also make it easier for them to obtain evidence and testimony.
Contacts questioned
British investigators have already travelled to Moscow to question those who meet Mr Litvinenko in a London hotel on 1 November - the day he fell ill.

Germany gripped by spy story
Andrei Lugovoi - a KGB officer-turned-businessman - was interviewed on Monday in a Moscow hospital where he is currently undergoing medical checks after traces of polonium-210 had been reportedly found in his body.
Officials from the Russian prosecutor general's office also took part in the questioning.
Mr Lugovoi - who denies any involvement - said afterwards that he was questioned as a witness.
Dmitry Kovtun - another man who met Mr Litvinenko on 1 November - has also been questioned by British and Russian detectives.
Hamburg tests
In Germany, four people close to Mr Kovtun - his ex-wife, her partner and two children living in or near Hamburg - are still undergoing tests for possible radiation contamination.

According to German police, the four have shown signs of contamination after Mr Kovtun stayed at his ex-wife's flat before flying to London.
Mr Kovtun - a former KGB officer - is understood to be having treatment for radiation poisoning at a Moscow hospital. He denies any involvement in Mr Litvinenko's death.
'Whistleblower missing'
Russian investigators, meanwhile, are reportedly preparing to travel to London to question witnesses.
Mr Litvinenko's widow earlier said she would not assist the Russian inquiry.
Friends of Mr Litvinenko believe he was poisoned because of his criticisms of the Russian government since defecting to the UK, but the Kremlin has dismissed suggestions it was involved in any way.
Russia's foreign intelligence service has also issued a statement denying any involvement.
In a separate development on Monday, the man - who reportedly had warned Mr Litvinenko that he could be targeted - had gone missing, French police said.
Yevgeny Limarev had disappeared from his home in the French Alps, police said.

| Well, you've probably picked up on the fact that I now beta for my good friend lunakatrina's fic "So Sue Me". I'm immensely proud of this, because the fic rocks, and I regularly contribute really freaking crappy lines. But the lines that aren't mine are good (although I DID love my Voldemrot line...). So, this is mainly aimed at Luna fans (actually, I think the only Luna fan on my journal is noagirl... but still!)
You want to know how Luna and I get random ideas? Like the way I inspired her random (and unfinished, damnit!) Scooby Doo parody with Harry Potter characters (we've discovered I inspire far too many crack!fics... I think So Sue Me came from something I quoted to Luna, too...)
